Rosé All Day

Wine packaging has changed so much over the years. Boxed wine used to be frowned upon and now it is popular and there is no shortage of wines in a box. You can get individual wine boxes, wine in tiny plastic single serve glasses and wine in cans. Who would have thought that wine in boxes and cans would become popular?

I decided to take it upon myself to do some serious research of the best Rose’s in cans. Someone had to do it! I went to Total Wine & More and Safeway to pick up cans of Rose. 15 cans of Rose later, I was excited and ready to dive on in and see which cans were the best. I did this research over a period of a few weeks. I have to say I was impressed with what I tasted. OK, lets dive in together now!

Below are the 15 cans of Rose wines. Wandering Blonde Wine O (WBW) rated 1-10.

  1. The Original House Wine Rose Bubbles – Light bubbly with hints of ripe strawberries. Great for folks who don’t like dry rose. $4.99 – WBW 6
  2. Mancan Rose – Chardonnay and Zinfandel blend with a smidge of Riesling. Not dry at all. Fresh berries on the palate. $5 – WBW 7
  3. Bridge Lane Rose, New York – Cab Franc based. Normally, I tread lightly with NY wines, but this Rose was awesome! Strawberry, watermelon, hints of peach. Super smooth! $8 – WBW 9
  4. AVA Grace Vineyards Rose – Dry, no bubbles. Citrus, Apricots and hints of raspberry. Very pleasant. $3.99 – WBW 8

  7. Babe Rose with Bubbles – This is my go to at the Washington Nationals games. Its light, bubbly and refreshing. Not too dry and not too sweet ( I don’t do sweet). Everyone has a different palate. I had a friend from HS comments and say this was too dry for them. I find it on the “sweeter” side. That just shows you how different our palates are. $6 – WBW 9
  8. Saturday Sessions Rose Wine, France – Made with Grenache grapes from the Languedoc. Crisp with red berries on the nose and palate. Light and refreshing. $6 WBW 8
  9. Better Wine Co. Nitro Rose Spritzer – This can hails from Maryland and is infused with Nitrogen to create the smooth bubbles, this can of Rose is one of my favorites. A blend of Chambourcin, Cab Franc and Cab Sauv – ripe fruits and perfectly balanced acidity. $6 – WBW 10
  10. Seven Daughters Rose, Italy – Light bodied. Floral and fruit forward. Strawberry and melon. Super refreshing. $3.99 – WBW 9
  11. Amble + Chase Rose, Provence France – A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. Slight notes of minerals with cherry and jasmine. My grandfather would have absolutely said there is no way this could be any good seeing as it is a rose in a can – but he would have ended up loving it! $5 – WBW 10
  12. Jacqueline Leonne Rose, California – This is the tiniest of the cans coming in at a whopping 187ml. Sparkling with floral and ripe berries. $4 – WBW 6
  13. Margerum Riviera Rose, Santa Barbara – This is a Grenache based rose that has a bright strawberry presence on the nose and the palate. Perfect for the Rose drinkers who don’t like super dry, but also don’t like sweet. Crisp and refreshing. $9 – WBW 8
  14. Crafter Union Rose – Floral with strawberry notes. Peach on the finish. This is an easy sipping Rose that is perfect for the hot summer days and evenings. $6 – WBW 8
  15. Cupcake Rose – Dark in color, very fruit forward. Strawberry and melon. $4 – WBW 4

I always like to remind folks that everyone has a different palate. My husband and I sometimes can taste the same things in a wine, but other times it is like we are drinking a different wine. I LOVE dry rose. It is very traditional of rose from Provence, which some of my favorite rose. Light in color and dry dry dry. I tried to get a good selection of all different types of rose. I think there is a can of rose for everyone! Total Wine & More had the best selection of cans, which is where I purchased all of these.

These are the perfect picnic, outdoor concert, beach or tailgate wines. So go grab a few cans and enjoy!!
