Happy New Year! Getting back to the grind of work and school can be a rough transition after the holiday season. Catching up on sleep, going back to eating more veggies and fewer cookies seems like a tough task, yet we all have to do it. Some folks might even be sticking to their resolution, then again, some might not. I never like to do the whole New Years resolution. I feel like I am always setting myself up for failure. This year however, I want to give back more. That is a resolution that I can stick to and carry on each year. Whether giving back is volunteering with local organizations, donating to more foundations that are near and dear to me, or being conscience of buying products from organizations/companies that donate proceeds to different charitable organizations. I want to give.
I think buying products from organizations that donate to charities is a great way to give back. There are a ton out there and with a little research you can find some wonderful organizations. I have done a little research on this one product that I have purchased before, but never knew how MUCH they give and how MANY charities and organizations they work with. OneHope Wine is a California based company that makes some pretty darn good wine, with the consulting help of Robert Mondavi’s grandson, Rob. Each wine varietal supports a different organization or charitable cause. Half of the profits are donated.
Just to give you an idea of the impact OneHope has had on certain charities and organizations, here are a few charities that have benefited to date.
- 1,846,207 meals have been provided to help end childhood hunger. OneHope works with Why Hunger
- 97,324 Trees have been planted. Trees 4 Trees
- 16,807 Clinical trials for breast cancer. Gateway For Cancer – OneHope Chardonnay profits go to this charity.
- 7,131 Veterans sent to aid in natural disasters – Team Rubicon – OneHope Red Blend helps Vets continue their service through disaster relief.
Those are just a few examples of the impact OneHope and their consumers have had on these charities and organizations.
Recently, my husband and I tried OneHope Chardonnay and the Red Blend. OneHope Chardonnay is an off dry medium bodied Chardonnay. Hints of tropical fruit and vanilla. Subtle hints of coconut can be detected too! Every two cases of this wine funds a clinical trial for a woman with breast cancer.
OneHope Red blend was bold and flavorful. Black cherries on the nose, with a hint of cedar. Jam and cassis on the palate with a smooth smooth finish. Wonderful on it’s own and great paired with grilled meats or a ground Turkey meat sauce over pasta. Every bottle helps Veterans continue their service through disaster relief.
Both these wines are available at the Safeway for $14. At Total Wine & More for $10.99
Check out the OneHope site and look at their products and the charities and organizations each product serves. And go buy OneHope wine and research these very worthy charities – it’s a great way to have some good wine and give something back!
I really liked this blog. Great ideas on giving. As always, so proud of you.
